About Us
We are a video production company servicing Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, and beyond that specializes in media + strategy. What does that mean? Well, we make really good videos and know what to do with them.
Founded by award-winning Director/Producer/Editor Tom Prather to pursue creative ideas and produce compelling content. We have grown to create award-winning media like national television commercials, promotional videos, video FAQs, and branding design work.
Our strategy behind our media creation is revolutionizing the way consumers and fans digest content. Our distribution methods and products, including online video distribution, video brochures, and wearable video name tags, are changing the way original content is being produced and distributed. Our design work takes it to the next level as we physically install, and sometimes paint, the designs on walls, floors, and storefronts.
Chief WaveMaker
Tom Prather originally founded The Blue Wave for the purpose of producing original television programming. That soon led to developing a reputation of looking at things differently and developed the mantra of "Why not"?
The first example of this in action was Prather's maiden voyage in the entertainment business as a photographer for Van Halen after making a few creative calls and finding a stack of letterhead.
Prather went on to be sought out as an editor and director for television commercials and long format video projects and later started the Letterbox Film Festival, the world's first monthly film festival, after securing Cabo Wabo tequila as the title sponsor.

Dreams For Kids DC
Dreams For Kids DC (DFKDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 61-1716117) that provides life-changing activities that empower children with physical and developmental disabilities to unite with their peers and realize their potential.
Tom Prather has been an active participant for many years and Board Member for the past several years. We have sought to invest in our community and donate production and branding services to DFCKC to help spread the word of such a great cause.
